After much alteration and many adjustments I'm finally at a place where I'm satisfied with my brochure. *phew

Night time colours

Pastel colours are a no no. Not right for the theme or the age group. Needs to be stronger and more colourful and eye-catching and relevant to theme. Going for darker colours to suit the night time

Percy's Reserve colours look best, make all of them dark blue.

Further development

Further development on my amended design

I used bright red in the corners initially to try and create a sense of playfulness and colour and fun, but upon further development the red isn't really working

Thinking about aesthetics, pastel colours? 

Change in direction.

It feels a little like I'm banging my head against the wall with my current design so I've opened up a new document and I've started from scratch to get a totally clean slate and new perspective rather than trying to reposition old images

With the boxes for the text I was attempting to mimic the erratic way information is displayed in the Horrible History children's magazines and in many other 'fun' informational brochures and magazines aimed at children. I realised pretty soon that this wasn't working for my aesthetic

Just nope.

Getting somewhere! Don't want the colour to be too close to the roads as they won't stand out. Don't want to change the road colour too much as these are universally recognised road colour codes. 

Changed road colours slightly, I think this orange works the best with the greens and blue

 The colours are quite jarring though. The green and orange clash a bit

Reduced saturation works much better, still bright but not so jarring.

Duck facts

Apparently bread is actually bad for ducks! Left over bread is bad for the environment too as it grows moulds and attracts rats. Bread fills up the ducks then they don't get the nutrients they actually need and can develop serious health problems as a result, such as not being able to fly anymore! Which is of course potentially fatal. - Make this a 'fun fact' for the kids, informative, educational, interesting.
